How To Manage Stress, Can You Manage Stress?


At times there may seem like there is no hope or no way out of a stressful situation. The one thing that is annoying us just won't go away and we end up feeling helpless in combating the situation. But there are stress management practices that you can do to relieve some of the tension and make the day become a little more tolerable and bearable.
Learning how to manage stress is all about taking control of your life and the decisions you make. There is unlikely anyone around to make these decisions for you, so you must make a plan to manage stress because you will never have more than 24 hours in one day, or those demands from your screaming kids is not going to get any quieter unless you decide to end the very things that are causing you stress.
To manage stress can begin by working out what the things in your life that are stressing you. It could be that report or article your boss has demanded you get out by 10:00 am tomorrow morning, or that spread sheet you need to complete by 2:00 pm on Wednesday for an important meeting with a client. But identifying these as what are causing you to stress may well be what is wrong. It may be your lack of motivation that your stressed about or not knowing how to manage stress will cause plain old procrastination.
Rather than just turning to pills, cigarettes, alcohol or over-eating you should try to change the situation that is making you stressed. If it's a noisy neighbour then either move out or approach the neighbour and let them know about your being upset with the constant racket. They might not have realized it. Doing nothing or avoiding the situation by leaving just sweeps the issue under the carpet. Meaning you're not dealing with the stressful situation.
You could always change the way you deal with the person that stresses you out. This form of stress management changes the way we see and view a stressful situation. Every person will have their own approach on how to make it work best for them, it is a personal choice that you make to combat your stress levels.
If you get anxious and stressed out by the news you should switch off the television and try to take control of your environment instead of sitting yourself in the corner and fretting.
